Good evening, little masters!

The Prancing Pony Podcast is a weekly podcast about the Middle-earth legendarium of J.R.R. Tolkien, hosted by Alan Sisto and Shawn E. Marchese. We are passionate Tolkien enthusiasts inviting listeners to enjoy our detailed exploration of Tolkien’s work, with smart but straightforward discussion and a heavy dose of humor!

In each episode we cover a chapter of Tolkien’s works: reading our favorite passages, discussing recurring themes, and highlighting connections to other Middle-earth tales, to showcase the rich tapestry woven by this master storyteller. Season 2 of the podcast — a read-through and discussion of The Hobbit — began on September 24, and we expect to start on The Lord of the Rings in summer 2018.

We believe even Tolkien’s most formidable works can be accessible to anyone. We wish to open the door to this beloved author for whoever wants to enter, and like the common-room of the Prancing Pony inn in Bree, we welcome every traveler through Middle-earth – from hobbits newly setting on out on their first adventures, to wizards well-versed in the ancient lore – to join in the conversation by asking questions and offering their thoughts through our mailbag (Barliman’s Bag) and social media.
